Mr. Ben Avery is a native of Georgia and is a product of DeKalb County public school system. He received a Bachelor of Science in Education degree from Coastal Carolina University in Conway, South Carolina; a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership from Walden University; and a Specialist in Leadership from Georgia College and State University. 

Mr. Avery has been in the field of education for over 15 years, spending 10 years as a Health & Physical Education instructor at the middle school level in Clayton County and Fulton County public schools. In addition to teaching, he has coached several sports: Girls & Boys Basketball, Volleyball, and Track & Field. Additionally, he served in the role of Middle School Athletic Director. 

Mr. Avery has over 5 years of administrative experience as Dean of Students for Fulton County schools where he led a diverse staff and approximately 1,700 students. He implemented programs that assisted in raising the graduation rates and created a cohesive learning community thus producing a positive academic learning environment.

Mr. Ben Avery has been a resident of Henry County for over 14 years. More importantly, he is a proud family man and has been married to his wife Jackie Avery for 19 years. They have 3 children who have attended Dutchtown High School: Alexus, Andre, and Adrian.
